7 years and finally to an end

28th of December 2021, seven years after the Norman Atlantic maritime disaster and we are finally at a turning point; from the point of view of the criminal trial, the Court of Bari is collecting the testimonies of the various passengers who survived the hellfire that night, and we heard them tell their experience both in the courtroom and through video links with the Greek courts; in the meantime the negotiations, after having obtained a record conservation seizure in favor of our clients, have finally reached the rightful level of offer for the compensation of both the passengers and the families of the victims.
Although the ghosts of that night will continue to haunt the survivors forever, everyone understood the importance of having undertaken the path of criminal judgment to contribute to the reconstruction of the facts and ascertain responsibility, but also of having to escape the growing pitfalls at this point of the trial, first of all the statute of limitations for crimes, which after the sentence in the Supreme Court on the railway disaster of Viareggio hangs like a mantra on all criminal trials with the aggravating circumstance of the violation of the rules for safety at work. The transactions have long been agreed upon for both passengers and victims’ families and the first payments made. At the beginning of the year we will so update the blog to give you news on the final definition of the general and final settlement agreement.
